Yeah but the Beatles are on of my joint favourite bands. Cant get enough of michelle. Absolute tune. But Ringo was refered to as the ugly one, and although he was cool because he was in the beatles he probably wouldnt be in any other life. He also had no charisma or presence. You never saw him doing something cool or playing the drums and looking like the moment right now may be the happiest he has ever been.

Exactly, so unless you're a super-star band where all the members are somewhat equally recognized, the bassist is typically the most ignored.

Then you need to get some style and charisma.

Everyone knows of John Bonham from Led Zeppelin or Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters Or Dave Grohl in Nirvana and they are all considered incredibly fucking cool

Point is, we never did that much crowd talking anyway, just played through.
It's just when we would come down to talk with everyone else, find out how we were, what about us they enjoyed, that kind of thing, the introducing for me kinda always went like this:
"hey, did you like our show?"
"were you in the band?"
"yeah, drummer"
"oh, didn't notice" *walks away and talks to other members*

You think Metallica just jumped into a stadium, or that Jimi Hendrix turned up at Woodstock one year?
I'm not trying to prove anything, I play in bands because I like playing music.
It's just small gigs in pubs, rock clubs and parties, but it's fun, and not uncommon for people to come talk to you afterwards.

So do good drumming, get charisma and get style and people will notice you. You just need presence

Thanks, not to sound arrogant but I think I'm pretty good already.
I'm working on the charisma, as I have a girlfriend, I'm not really bothered about "getting girls" any more, but it's getting better.
I prefer playing pubs/rock clubs now anyway, you get to meet some interesting people who are as passionate about music as you are, so socialising after a set is much easier and nicer now anyway

Charisma is for life, not judt for getting laid.

I've been on a night out with one of my friends, and while being ID to a club he has never been to before he started talking to the bouncer. All of a sudden the bouncer is like "Hey bob cover the front" on his lil radio and he takes my mate another friend I was with and myself into a VIP bit and buys us all drinks then starts talking to us just because the bouncer liked him so much and wanted to talk to him.

I can only dream of having charisma like that but Charisma is probably the most important thing in life. Its not what you know it who you know.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that.
It's just with rock clubs/pubs, you meet a lot more people who are genuinely interested in music, not just "omg he's in a band <33", so it's easier (for me anyway) to just be myself and talk to them about the thing I enjoy.
But yeah, I'd kill for the charismatic influence your friend seems to have. I have a friend like that, I'm always jealous of his silver tongue

I have found though that even just having presence means a big deal. Just being that guy who after someone says something, saying "Like what?" or equivalent

anyone can say it and someone will say it as its the obvious reply, but just be that guy . So he starts explaining it to the group but talking to you, now you and him are the focus of the group.

Takes no social skill or wit or anything that makes cool people cool but everyone will think of you as social and you'll have presence and people will know you're there. Now you're one of the mains of a conversation and you get practise building up your charisma and social skills.

My social intellegence has rocketed since doing stuff like that. Force myself into situations with people cooler than me and more interesting that me, finding ways to become a main of the conversation with simple stuff like that then practising and the charisma etc comes.

People will give jobs and stuff to people they like. They will take chances for people they like. They will look out for people they like.

hah, in my band it's almost opposite... Everyone has a girlfriend except our poor socially awkward guitarist :P
