Actually, that's pretty smart. With Facebook places (or whatever it is called), you can send for help using the GPS capabilities, or if no help arrives you can just find out where the hell you are.

A smart person would go to Facebook to get help, then go to the oasis and get water.
How does this apply to real life? People go to Facebook because they're bored usually. It's not like in real life people are actually faced with choosing something life saving or Facebook.
They're so damn close together.
The guy going to the water is probably going to go on Facebook after he has his fill.
