classic not plastic....

and its probably carbon fiber body..

also dont see how they could get away with that pointed front end..
here in aus you arent even allowed to have bonnet pins because they could "impale" someone if you hit them

I'm so glad people finally agree with me on this stuff. So few people actually like cars with legitimate character and aesthetic appeal anymore. Everybody always wants something that looks sharp and exotic as a status symbol.
User avatar #88 to #37 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/16/2012) [-]
Being from Detroit myself, I can tell you that love of classic cars will not die out. Look up info on the Woodward Dream Cruise sometime. Then drool over the pictures.

I'm partial to old GTOs myself.
#94 to #88 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
That was a most beautiful sight.
User avatar #105 to #94 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/16/2012) [-]
Yeah. I live less than three miles from Woodward Avenue. All year round, you can spend a half hour on that road and see at least a couple classic cars go by.

The day of the Dream Cruise, a twelve mile long stretch of it is packed with classic cars. And its five lanes on both sides. That's a **** ton of cars.

There's some newer cars, but it's mostly about the classics. And others. I've seen the Ghostbusters car there. And the Adam West era Batmobile. And the cop car from the first Transformers movie. That guy parks at the same gas station every year.

If you ever travel here, come in the middle of August. It's always the second or third weekend of that month.
User avatar #110 to #105 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Where is Woodward?
User avatar #116 to #110 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/16/2012) [-]
It's a road that starts in downtown Detroit, right in front of the GM building, and runs NW for a little over twenty miles, to the city of Pontiac.

Fun Fact: The first mile of paved road in the world was a stretch of Woodward Avenue between Six Mile road and Seven Mile road.
User avatar #120 to #116 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Well **** . Guess I'm moving to Detroit someday. Tell me, what do people think of rednecks and the Confederate flag up there?
User avatar #124 to #120 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/16/2012) [-]
Well, the suburb of Hazel Park has the nickname "Hazeltucky". So, there's a hint.

Mostly depends on where you're at. North and west of the city don't really care, in the city and south of it might shoot you on sight for the flag at least. The redneck part we don't really care.

Hell, Jeff Foxworthy started his "You Might Be A Redneck If..." stuff at a show here in the 80's. Plus, hillbillies used to mean "Michigan dirt farmers".
#128 to #124 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Ah, ok lol cause I tend to wear my 'Southern Discomfort' vest a lot.
User avatar #130 to #128 - kerfufflemachtwo (11/16/2012) [-]
Eh, just don't wear it south of 8 Mile and you'll be fine.

You ever see "8 Mile"? That place he does the rap battle at? I've been there once. It's a homeless shelter that uses the basement for various local music performances.

I'm curious. What seems to be the most prominent car company in your area?

Here it's GM by a landslide. I see so many GM cars on the road around here. So many.

And I drive one myself.
User avatar #140 to #138 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Chevy and Ford mostly, all the Mexicans drive them. All the white people I know drive Dodge and the occasional Chevy for some reason.

Yeah, you get a little of everything here. but mostly GM stuff.

I dunno man, GM did pretty good with the New ZL1, I mean 580 off the assembly line.. thats pretty deadly. It also has a faster time around nurburgring than the Porche, so I think they're definately proving themselves. The new 302 from Ford isn't exactly a shame either.
User avatar #195 to #192 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Yeah, they all perform well, I just don't like them all that much. They lack the character of the old muscle y'know?

why do people like trucks so much? personnaly, i think theyre nasty
User avatar #67 to #61 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Which is more useful? A two door sedan or a large pickup? I'm fairly certain the answer is obvious. But regardless, I like trucks because I don't have to worry about tearing up my undercarriage by going over a speed bump or hitting a ditch while going a tad bit too fast.
User avatar #151 to #67 - RaptorJesus (11/16/2012) [-]
>two door

Well, i have both a ford ranger and a 2008 yaris in the family
(the yaris is only like a seat row larger than a smart car)

We get more **** done in the yaris than we do with the truck, thing gets 40 MPG
and that midget-mobile takes ****** speedbumps at 40 like a boss
User avatar #72 to #67 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
Depends doesn't it? If you don't need to do a lot of towing or heavy lifting then there's no real point in having a truck that drains gas like a ************ . And if you obey the speed limit and street signs (which people obviously have a hard time with) then speed bumps and dips shouldn't be an issue.
User avatar #76 to #72 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Trucks are all around useful, whether you need to move something that won't fit in a car, or go and get groceries. Either way you're better off.
User avatar #83 to #76 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
While I wouldn't mind having a truck myself, I have to politely disagree. IF I don't need anything bigger than what can fit in my car, I don't need a truck. I can transport groceries just fine in my car without them getting windraped as well. And also back to the point of gas, if I can do everything I need to do with a truck that I can with my car, I'm not going to get a truck that will cost me even more in gas.
User avatar #89 to #83 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
Well then to each their own. I just feel better prepared with a truck and tow hitch in case something happens or somebody gets in a jam.
User avatar #95 to #89 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
See... I've also seen my car used to push another car up onto a trailer... Cars also have many uses depending on who's around.
User avatar #100 to #95 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]

2002 Chevy Malibu...
User avatar #114 to #109 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
A Chevy not breaking down at the thought of actually doing something? Preposterous! Also, people are getting way too butthurt in here.
User avatar #118 to #114 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
I will stick up for Chevy for the simple fact that EVERY Ford my family has had has broken down in no time while this little Malibu has reached over 180,000 miles and is still running strong besides some slight electrical issues.
User avatar #122 to #118 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]
I prefer Dodge... lol
User avatar #125 to #122 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
I don't mind Dodge, just me and Ford have some type of anti thing against each other lol. For the most part, if I go against something someone else likes it's typically just me trolling.

They set it on fire, and on top of a twenty three story building that was being demolished. Also left in in the ocean over night. I'm from Texas, I know what a truck doesn't normally survive, and those are some things they normally don't.
User avatar #85 to #79 - CrashingSea (11/16/2012) [-]
There are tanks that don't survive that punishment...
User avatar #84 to #79 - sonicg (11/16/2012) [-]

User avatar #196 to #84 - commontroll (11/16/2012) [-]
Not that I know of. I know another vehicle they tested, they used 7 pounds of C4 (which utterly destroyed a Hummer) and the only thing that happened was that the tire blew up.
