It's much harder to abuse welfare than it seems OP thinks. You have to be in deep **** to get it, and many people aren't on for very long (2 years).

I live in PA and I had the most ironic thing happen to me when it comes to welfare. I live in a small town near pittsburgh where our tools are basically people trying to be rednecks. Sadly one of my good friends is kind of like that. And he make a joke that was somethign like "All those ******* in pittsburgh are all probably playing black ops 2 right now because they are on welfare." And his mom seriously agreed with him and went into more detail. When I went to leave with a friend I brought that up. turns out that my friend's family, the one with the racist mom, is on welfare. Oh the sweet irony.

NY has no limit to how long you can be on it.

The limit doesn't matter. People eventually get off when they no longer require the support welfare brings. That time period is usually two years.

But some don't, some spend there entire lives on it. Also, there are some people in my area that have as many children as possible to get extra government aid, then make the kids get jobs and support themselves as soon as they turn 16.

Most people who stay on it their whole lives are in really deep **** . There's always going to be someone abusing the system. The fact that the parents make their kids get jobs is good, it means they won't be in the **** their parents are.
