a shit storm of epic proportions...

An online petition that calls for the State of Texas to withdraw from the U.S. and create its own government on Monday reached the required signature threshold to receive an official response from The White House. Similar petitions from other states have also been filed including: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee. However, unlike the petition from Texas, none of these states had reached the 25,000-signature threshold to get an official White House response as of Monday evening.

For everyone in the comments talking of "Civil War", please be aware that Texas was once its own country. It joined the Union on the condition that it could leave peacefully at any time. Technically it could secede if it wanted to.

From what I understand there is a counter petition to strip the people that signed that petition of citizenship and exile them.

I hope Texas becomes independent.

Just because I want to see the effects it will have on this world, no other reason actually.

People seem to have failed to realize there citizen created petitions. And even thought they met the mark of 25,000 signatures there are 25 million citizens in Texas. To secede because of a fraction of the population is blatant stupidity. People who make these bold claims and actions are the people that don't understand what politics is and believes what they are told from media outlets.

Anyone remember Fairly OddParents? "I wish that I am never wrong."

"How many states are in the USA?"

"49?"
