yea i know, im just thinking that most of the people here are "nerds", and how can you call a lightsaber nerdy, telling me you dont like star wars? i said go to 9gag cause most of the douches who think stuff is nerdy go to 9gag.

The reason they didn't use droids is because the troopers are capable of on-the-fly decision making and generally don't have any off-body weakness (droid control centres).
As for the armour, its less for protection than it is for intimidation, a person is less likely to attack a man who looks like they could kick their ass.
The shield that the Droideka use require a fairly heavy power source as far as I know (Which would explain why the stormtroopers can't use them) and that's why they move around by rolling.
There was also a tv show about a year ago that came up with a fairly reasonably explanation for the lightsaber not continuing on forever. I don't remember the details but It had something to do with a retractable ceramic pipe with holes on it allowing heat through.
Hope that was a decent explanation friend try to watch and enjoy them now that you know some of the facts. :)
