Each one is better than any given episode of Family Guy.

The first few seasons were good, and then Seth MacFarlane set the phasers to 'super douche' and ruined it.

I have not actually seen the first few seasons, what I know is the contemporary Family Guy, the writing is just so lazy, and as you said, super douchie. For example, the "famed" Family Guy Star Wars parodies barely have any jokes about the actual movie, they're just the same episodes with the characters wearing Star Wars costumes (I want to hear jokes about Han Solo and Boba Fett and shit, not the same joke about a dumb couch for five minutes straight).

The first three or four seasons are much better. Season 10 was actually pretty funny, but 6-9 are of poor quality. He - Seth Macfarlane - got too much creative control and let his obvious political ideas take over the show. We are treated to a minute long rant on exactly why Brian is a douchebag, but it's still not a good Family Guy time. I would recommend watching the beginning seasons of Family Guy. The humor is much better and the characters are more interesting.

Is the humor different but better, or the same but executed better.

The humor is more varied. There are fewer cut-aways, but that's clearly what Seth was comfortable with at the time. The basic cleverness is a lot better executed and doesn't have as many ham-fisted attempts at it.

I'm good, I've seen enough of Mcfarlanes work to know I don't like his style regardless of the saturation. I'm into more clever comedy, or at the very least, comedy about better subjects than pop culture (which is all family guy is).

To be honest I prefer American Dad and The Cleveland Show over Family Guy at this point. He's not in creative control (at least I don't think he is) and there aren't any cut-aways.
