Its because they stopped using jango fetts DNA, after the battle of kamino
palpatine decided to stop using his template as the clones made from it were
too keen to rebel/were too volatile, so he began using other, less impressive, DNA, fetts clones were superior in battle in every way. He also began recruiting
normal born humans into the trooper ranks.

"Although the clone rebellion was soundly defeated, this incident convinced
Emperor Palpatine to commission the creation of new clones from
different templates and the recruitment of birth-born soldiers to fill the ranks of
the Stormtrooper Corps. Although the Jango Fett template would still be used,
none of the Fett clones, especially the members of the 501st who defeated the
rebel clones, would ever get used to the increasing diversity in the army ranks
that they once filled as a whole."

So instead of having clones made from one of the greatest bounty hunters ever
alive, he had clones of inferior beings and normal humans in the trooper ranks.

Just look at the visors.
This visor obviously means the clones are Asian.
Asians are better at everything, including shooting.
The clones are clones of Jango Fett.
The actor who played Jango Fett was Temuerra Morrison.
Temuerra Morrison was born in New Zealand.
New Zealand imports a lot of electronic equipment made in Asia.
The equipment has had a lot of "Asian power" (hereafter referred to as "AP") rubbed onto it by Asian children in sweatshops, who produce the most powerful raw AP.
This AP has been given off by the equipment (mostly televisions and radios) in the form of aural radiation.
The AP has made its way into the bodies of some New Zealanders.
Enough AP has coalesced into Temuerra Morrison to cause him to be part Asian.
Jango Fett is Asian.
The clone troopers are Asian.
That is why the clone troopers are better at shooting.

Well you see the Clones were Cloned from the deadliest bounty hunter in the galaxy. They were just as apt in battle. As they grew old or died in battle the empire began accepting normal volunteers into their ranks. Clearly they didn't have standards. I believe Han Solo was an Imperial deserter before he became a smuggler

- Clone troopers were genetically designed to be elite soldiers. Also, they went through very intensive and accelerated growth & combat training (remember that a batch would be ready in 6 months or 2 years, can't remember exactly).
- The accelerated growing eventually led to mentally unstable clones, that coupled along with the Kaminoans rebelling against the Empire, led to the abolition of Clones in Stormtrooper ranks
- Among the only remaining active clones in the Empire's service were the 501st, also known as "Vader's Fist" (they can be seen when Vader attacks and wipes out everything in the Jedi Temple).
- Due to the Empire's doctrine of quantity over quality, Stormtrooper recruitment was based on Conscripts that were very poorly trained (much like the Soviet troops defending Stalingrad... more or less). This is also observed in starfighter employment (TIE Fighters and their pilots were considered very expendable and cheap to produce).
- The unofficial reason the Stormtroopers suck so bad is the so called "Stormtrooper Effect". You can look it up on google/wikia, it actually provides a formula on which apparently the odds of Stormtrooper fire being effective is affected by the on-screen presence of protagonists (the higher the number and importance of the protagonists, the lower the chance of a hit). That's why there is such a discrepancy between how effective the Stormtrooper seem to be when boarding Tantive IV or the ground assault on Hoth, compared to other scenes where they're only cannon fodder for the main cast.
Star Wars actually gave birth of "The Stormtrooper Effect", it has since been seen in countless movies, starting from the nazis in Indiana Jones to generic goons in B-grade action movies.
- Last but not least, I am a stormtrooper, all your arguments are irrelevant.

it does actually makes sense, from what it said in battlefront 2. after the empire formed and they got the new armor, they started taking recruits into the army. Thus, the the quality worsened because of inferior genes.

Somewhere between the prequels and the original trilogy, the empire stopped using clones and started using actual soldiers because the breeders were making clones to fight the empire.
User avatar #98 - reican (11/13/2012) [+] (1 reply)
the original clones were made from the original DNA strain of Jango Fett.
they got real and proper training.

However, the Stormtroopers were clones of clones, and much of the training were skipped and had more flaws, which the imperial scientists yet had to discover how to remove during the cloning process.
The clones were massproduced in high speed unlike the original clonetroopers.

Making the empire go more on the " strength in numbers" while in the beginning it was quality of the clones that mattered.

the last remaining of the professional and the highly trained clones were after the clonewars stationed on the Deathstar for security or for training of many of the stormtroopers, trying to improve their performance. Or they got stationed across the galaxy as an imperial trooper officer. most of them died after the fall of the first Deathstar.

TL/DR, in the beginning the clones were of quality, but it was changed later into quantity that would be easier to control due to a weaker mind.

Actually, the quality of the clones and stormtroopers was not as polar as it looked, sure there were cuts in the quality of old republic and imperial regular infantry, those were mainly cuts to training, as they needed to churn out more in a quicker speed. The main advantage that the clones had against the Jedi on order 66 was not a quality advantage, but a tactical one. They had the tactical advantage of surprise. Another one was their opponents, in the clone wars, their opponents were inaccurate droids with poor AI while some of the opponents that the stormtroopers faced were very skilled opponents. You can see this on the Tantive IV skirmish and how the imperial forces massacred the poorly trained militia of the rebels defending the ship. An aspect of the mediocracy of the stormtroopers is the boredom and general poor conditions and the effect on morale that said aspects contributed to the complacency of garrison provincial troops. The cloning had not contributed as much to their power as you may have been comfortable to believe, yet it is strategic aspects that made it very easy for the clone troopers to easily best the stormtroopers.

the empire employed clone troopers from Centax II which grew their clones to maturity in a year with minimal training as opposed to Kamino clones who matured in ten years with maximum training even from Mandalorian sergeants, such as Kal Skirata and Walon Vau. also, the empire started running out of clones so they turned to conscription, forcing people to become stormtroopers with even less training than the Centax II clones and holy **** i am such a desperate nerd. i'm gonna go crawl back into my dnd players handbook now.

Clones were highly trained uniform combatants created off a template of one of the most skilled bounty hunters in the galaxy. Stormtroopers were conscripted recruits from empire-controlled systems.

Well, you have to take this into consideration:
The Clone Troopers were BRED (in this case cloned) TO FIGHT.
They were like the highly skilled mandalorians in many ways mostly because they were given battle teachings from Jango Fett, one of the last mandalorians, or just because they were engineered from the master combatant's genes.
Stormtroopers were basically any Corellian-like species that could fit into the suit, and did not receive training anywhere close to the rigor or excellency of their predecessors, the clones.
