hapy bday ;D

Goddamnit you made me feel. I wrote you a novel:
"I've accepted the fact that I'm dying alone"

I felt exactly like this for most of my life. I was abused as a child (not saying this is your situation) and it left me with a crippling social anxiety. One day I reached a level of depression that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I was 100% sure that I'd never find anyone who could love me; how could they? I almost committed suicide by jumping off of a cliff, but then I sort of broke through the other side of depression and anxiety into a sort of fearlessness. So what if someone rejects me? I could be dead right now. Nothing that anyone thought about me mattered. So I opened up to people, and it turns out that I am worthy of love, and my abuser had twisted my self perception so far from reality that once I got out of my own way, it was laughable how easy making friends was. Now I'm married with a kid (yeah, I'm old) and I can't express how happy I am everyday that I didn't kill myself.
So don't give up hope. Don't accept that shit. You only have one life, so fight your hardest to make sure it's the best damn life that you could have with the things that were given to you from birth. You only have one shot at this life, so don't waste it being afraid of rejection from others. Be friendly and open to others, and if they don't want to be a part of your life then what's the worst that can happen? That negative person won't be in your life? Sounds like a positive. Though it is great (and necessary) to be able to be content spending time alone, in the long run life is meaningless without love. You are worthy of love, and the only person stopping you from finding that deep happiness is yourself. Just do what you love, make art, create, write, go rock climbing, whatever makes you happy. Learn to love yourself, and others will love you. Get out and explore this beautiful world and the right woman (or man) will find you eventually.

It helps to think about how many people are like you, suffering in silence. A lot of people are lonely, socially anxious or depressed. We're all just excellent at hiding it. We all wear masks of perfection, like we have all of our shit together, and it makes it so hard for struggling people to see how many people are exactly like them. So whenever you want to make friends with someone and you're too nervous to actually approach them, think about how probable it is that they, no matter how they look on the outside, are hiding immense loneliness too. Think about how happy you would be to have someone reach out to you on your loneliest day, and try to be that person for others.

I'm glad that I could help you feel a little better on your Birthday, Jumi. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to reach out to let you know that you're not alone. I hope you know what I mean when I say that even though I don't know you, I love you.
