Here's some rules I've come up with over my years in the dating world. (I'm a 21 year old college student who usually meets girls at drunken parties. That's just my environment, take my advice or leave it).

1. Confidence. It doesn't matter if you're the ugliest mother fucker alive, if you have confidence, you can get the girl. If you don't have confidence; pretend you do. Confidence involves being happy with yourself no matter what happens. If you piss yourself at a party, fucking flaunt it and be proud. If you get in a fight and lose, so what? Don't feel shameful, be proud of yourself.
2. Be yourself, but not to the extreme. A girl wants to know if your outgoing, funny, smart, etc. Not the kinds of video games you play.
3. Don't get too deep in conversation the first couple of times you meet her. She wants to know about what kind of person you are, she doesn't want to hear about your stories. Don't tell her anything about yourself unless she asks, and if she asks keep it short and sweet. Don't bore her. The first impression is more about actions.
4. DON'T spend all your time around her and trying to impress her. If you're at a party, go meet knew people and leave her alone for a little while. You can even go as far as 'accidentally' ignoring her.
5. Accept your surroundings. Hey, guess what? You are not the funniest, strongest, most good-looking guy at this party. You're not even close. But, you don't have to be. If she says something about some hot guy with big muscles, make fun of said person (not directly to his face). Put your arms out and say to the girl "would you go out with me if I looked like a gorilla too?" If she laughs, great!
6. Confidence is your lifesaver. If she denies you, who cares? Fuck her, go get another drink and party your ass off. Go enjoy your life and try again with another girl.
7. If you've known her for more than a week then it's not gonna happen. Sorry. Move on.
8. Always have a wingman.

After reading this I'm starting to think this is more of how to get laid, not date girls... I guess you can tweak a little bit and make it more towards actually getting to know someone... Oh well.

this is my advice to you guys from my personel experience so results may vary.

if theres a girl you like (or guy i dont judge) act like a friend around them. instead of worrying about if they like you or trying to impress them just be yourself. make jokes around them, make jokes about them but make sure its in good humor. if they laugh your fine if they glare back off on the subject. the purpose of treating them like a friend helps with the confidence issue. since your not thinking about having a relationship or trying to impress her the nervousness goes away to an extent.

the hardest part is actually asking the girl out. im ashamed to admit i did it over text with my girlfriend. whatever way you do it you just have to suck up whatever fear you have and do it. in person is better but if you have to do it over text then hey at least do it. if she rejects then carry on dont try to force something thats not there
