Consumers are funding apple, your taxes are funding nasa.

So lets go through this again, willing to pay a whole lot more in taxes so you can speed up the space program? Exactly

NASA only gets about half a penny per tax dollar. The tax increase would only be up to one penny per dollar.

So that's going from 0.5% to 1%. Not much of a financial change

If you want to complain about taxes why don't you complain about the HUGE amount of money that your country spends on it's military?

The space program = better understanding of what happens around us.

Military = dead people

He wasn't exactly complaining, who really likes paying High taxes? That's what he was saying. Obama said he is going to cut military spending.

Yes because it's not like the middle east hates us or anything.

Let us take away our funding from military, there is no way the middle east would seize the opportunity to kill us all.

Our Defense Budget is larger then the next 26 countries behind us. And 25 of those 26 are our allies. I'm sure we could spare some money from defense. We are bankrupting ourselves on a military that is too large and unnecessary.

yeah, I'm sure the military powerhouse that is the middle east would be able to destroy the US if we cut military funding by even 1 billion.

Maybe they won't destroy us, but would you stop for a second and think about the soldiers on the front lines who risk their lives, to whom the difference between life and death is a subpar or out-of-date weapon. Are you really okay with having soldiers die because you want to collect more space rocks?

Well yes, but instead of cutting the equipment of the military, do you need all those bases everywhere?
Cut those.
Space rocks are cool man, and some can be worth more than a victory in a war, they teach us invaluable knowledge about our eventual voyage though the stars.
They will teach us what kind of minerals and ores asteroids/planets/stars contain and allow us to develop technology to land on those specks of dust and mine the **** out of them, use those recourses to build more ships to allow our children to explore the cosmos and to make an interstellar civilization.
I firmly know and believe that funding for any scientific endeavor even if it ends in failure is more valuable than funding for a war.
Also my lesser-respected opinion which i wouldn't share but want to, a human life is worth nothing unless it can benefit humanity or its technology or prosperity, a soldier is someone who fights wars and wars are not for the benefit of humanity, it may give a short term boost to technology and the prosperity of a country, but not of the whole humanity.
Gieb Rebuttal, with grace.

Well said, I suppose you have a point with the bases, but cuts to the budget will include all around cuts unless Ron Paul is elected. Also, our soldiers are valuable because if we manage to wipe out an entire people, like Al-Queda, and leave only the more peaceful muslims, the world will be better for everyone, who is still alive.

Far from richest company on the planet. Secondly, one is government funded, the other is a private company.

Most valuable stock is not the same as richest. That means that they are very very likely to make a higher percentage increase in stock than any other company on the market.

If you are going by company revenue, it's Exxon

Microsoft isn't the most valuable company.
Its the third. Apple is the first, Google is the next, Microsoft is third.
Google it if you don't believe us.
I don't agree with apple, but when you're stupid to the fact you're in denial about something, then you need to be corrected.

Apple's only rich because everyone thinks that computers are meant to be majorly overpriced and to sit there and look good.
And because a half inch screen size increase and a crappy map system is worth 500 dollars.

They are still hiring quite a lot of people, I just had an interview with them a little while back for a co-op. It's just you won't be working on any part of NASA that sends people in space, but there are still plenty of other branches of NASA you can work with.
