I would find that impossible, you can't be colorblind and be a nuclear submarine technician. Or at least you couldn't while my father was in the navy, I don't know about now. Since he was pretty badly color blind, and so many things are color coordinated, they wouldn't let him do it.

What are the odds of that?

Achromatopsia is extremely rare condition and it doesn't just come alone. People with it have vision loss and photophobia. Usually when person is color blind he/she has inability to see certain color(s), but total color blindness is really rare. I'm not saying he doesn't have that condition, I'm just a bit suspicious.
