Technology progression

SD cards will replace blu ray soon for gaming, not only can you play your game on all consoles but no god damned fucking load times.
not to mention SD cards are up to 128gb now.

Maybe Nintendo has been right all along...

All optical media is pretty much obsolete, even Blu-Ray and HDD's. It's just the cost that keeps them in use, or rather the higher costs of newer, superior alternatives.

USB 3.0 flash drives could/will replace DVD's and BRD's.
SSD's and flash memory could/will replace HDD's.

The thing that replaced them (CD-ROMS) Have already been replayed (DVDs), which have already been replaced (albeit hardly used, mini DVD's and CD's) and replaced by Blu-Ray.

LP records are coing back. 8 tracks are only a subnet worth of that popularity.

VHS, 8-Track, Vinyl... none of those are good for throwing at someone. What you really want to throw at someone is a philharmonic orchestra.

In the world of broadcasting, Blu-Ray is dying, SD and CF cards are just there, VHS's are used widely by the porn industry. people want smaller things. so SD and CF cards are gaining popularity in the consumer market.

apparently jokes are forbiden on FJ. also i still have most of my movie collection on vhs and some on laser disc. i also think bluray is the worst idea since princess diana refused to get anti lock brakes

Yeah well I like blu-rays. Yes, they are extremely expensive, however:
I am a computer tech. And some people have a lot of data. If it's several hundred gigs of photo's/vids, it's actually cheaper for us to give them a used blu-ray drive and a couple discs.
Why? Cause the best blu-ray optical discs can hold over 100Gb's of Data.
