The DEA is run on a federal level. this has been the struggle in California, when legal dispensaries are being busted by DEA if they grow suspicious of "illegal business practices". So in short, yea, the federal government does have a hand in the whole ordeal.

Only a tiny hand and only for that reason. You arent going to see people getting busted left and right in Colorado and Washington for marijuana possession because the Feds wont be cracking down on it

You didn't read the law, adults 21+ can have it, up to an ounce, a lb. of food products, and 72 ounces in liquids on a person. No teen can have it, it's still a misdemeanor/felony based on the case.

Technically, weed will be the new booze, teens drink and thats illegal, where I live cops dont do anything if they know you're drinking, they just ask you to be safe and not get in the car with anyone whos drinking or drive under the influence. Weed will slowly morph into the norm for teenagers to do. I drink almost every weekend and cops are fine with it. They just give a fuck when your smoking weed.. they just take it away usually though so thats nice! Being from canada is the best.

For now. We talked about it in my Gov class.

Historically whenever Federal and State Law have clashed, Federal has won every single time. The Weed legalization won't last, but it's a clear indicator of a nation shifting opinion.

Actually, if they end up taking this to the Supreme Court, there's a really good case for removing any federal ban on marijuana. The 10th Amendment- powers not granted to the federal government by the Constitution, nor prohibited to the States, are reserved to the States or the people.
