My opinion, it should be:
One person = one vote
No electoral college, just people voting. every voter is equal. Why is that not how it's done?

Obama still would have won...

Well first of all, people are stupid. We need the people in the electoral college to kind of add a buffer between peoples stupidity and the votes that actually matter.

Second, when the constitution was made there was no easy way for that many votes to be counted, now we have electronics and **** , but America isn't good at changing.

Then why not give each Electoral College equal voting power? Instead of giving massive influence to a single state give an equal amount of power to a college as well as implementing population votes.

California has a massive amount of electoral college votes because California is by far the most populous state in the union.

And back to equal power.

the electoral college is to protect the country from its own stupid citizens. the majority isn't always correct.

This covers it really well and shows the benefit of electoral college vs. first past the post.

But then this goes and shows the problems with electoral college as well.

Well, Obama did eventually win the popular vote. http://www(.)huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/06/presidential-election-map-2012_n_2036265.html?utm_hp_ref=elections-2012

But I do agree that the electoral college is ********* .

That so like dumbass people dont vote for like Snooki over popular vote.
User avatar #288 to #278 - GeneralBiscuit (11/07/2012) [-]
Well people would still have to "run for president" but I see the problem with a celebrity campaigning. popular airhead = bad president...
