For the first 2 years Obama had a Democratic Congress and the power to do anything they wanted. The preliminaries of universal healthcare went through at this time, but nothing really else.It also included a highly liberal budget and the allowance of many of the bailouts. Obama had more of a majority in Congress than any president since probably Clinton. Also, Obama uses more executive orders than any president in history. They allow the president to go around Congress and do what he wants. I'm not positive where you got the "more things blocked than any other president" fact from, but I guess it could be plausible. The issue Obama really had was he did not deliver satisfactory to the people in his early term which made the nation freak out and vote in Republican congressman. Look at how close this election was, 49/49 for most of it and Republicans weren't even high on Mitt. If conservatives had someone better to run than a moderate flip flopper in his past, they could very well have won.

If Republicans had a better candidate all-round, electing one of them into office wouldn't seem like such a terrifying concept. Nowadays it feels like one party is just an affront to the other, and they're ideologically completely at odds. The Republican party is just a shadow of how great it once was, it wasn't filled with bigots who campaigned on the back of keeping all individuals from sharing equal rights, or openly integrating outdated religious beliefs into modern laws.

equal rights? gay marriage has been left up to the states for several years now. Republicans even believe in abortion, as long as the woman was raped or the woman's health is in danger. Republicans believe that abortion shouldn't be used as common contraception.

Romney stated that he wanted to ban gay marriage as well as abortion through constitutional ammendments which would over ride the state's say on the issues.

While the majority of pro-life advocates believe that abortion shouldn't be used as commonly as contraception, they're also against the use of contraceptives as well as sex ed to younger children and advocate celibacy due to movements strong religious foundation. Completely ignoring that banning abortion is going to be killing less unborn babies, but it's going to be putting more women's lives in danger who will want abortion whether it's illegal or not. What we should be focusing on is sex education, safe sex awareness, and increasing access to all forms of contraceptives.

Did you see the stuff saying that if it was rape the baby should be kept because it was Gods will. There were high end republicans with that viewpoint.

That wasn't Mitt Romney's belief. He stated that he believed in situational abortions.

This has nothing to do with which party is better or anything, but if a Republican for example Mitt Romney was elected then most likely the democratic supreme court members would of retired leaving the new U.S Pres to pick 3 new judges, and since he was republican he would most likely pick 3 Republicans leaving the supreme court fully Republican, and making more opportunities for things to get done than any democrat would.

Not to nitpick or anything, but "the highest majority of Congress since Clinton" just means he had more than Bush.

It's true, not only that, but shortly after Obama came into office, they required the amount of votes for a bill to pass increased by 10 votes, meaning that many that bills that would've passed under normal circumstances (such as Warren Buffet's proposal to increase taxes by a small amount on the super-rich) failed to go through.

You hear a lot of Republicans say "Obama had his chance, and he failed". The irony is, is that every chance he tried to take, he was blocked by Republicans, possibly out of vanity of their party. Well, he's got four more years now, hopefully he can get more done now.

The House GOP passed thirty jobs bills in the past two years; not one has been called for a vote in the Senate. In the opening days of his kim jongistration it was BHO who said "Those are fine ideas, but I'm the President, we'll do it my way." Or his own chief of staff who said "F--k 'em; we have the votes." The party of obfuscation has been the Democrats for the past four years.

It depends what you want from a president. I think he has some extremely backward views on some moral issues and therefore I would not support him as a president.

Obama spent more money in the first three years of his term than George Bush did in all 8 years.

I think the Iran contention is overblown. I can't imagine American's want another foreign engagement after what they've been through/are still caught up in.
Also, it was either pay big in bailouts or see a lot of people lose their jobs because Wall Street is primarily composed of giant bleeding assholes.

What people fail to realize about Obama's last term was that he was a democratic president with a primarily Republican House and Senate. He wasn't gunna get much done because of that and even then the stuff that could be passed would have to be a compromise. It's not as easy to do that.

Plus Obama is the poster boy that people can blame instead of those voted into house or senate....

I was for Romney because I felt that even though he wasn't the best, he was a better choice. I don't feel right about voting for the third party because I have no idea what their ideals are. Why vote for somebody who you know nothing about?

Well that's why the internet exists. You look up their ideas and policies. For christ's sake, the only reason that a vote for a third party is a wasted vote is because society makes it so.

It's usually a waste vote because third party candidates are usually single issue, such as the Green Party, splinter parties, or ideological parties. They push really hard to make a certain change, and once it's made, what's the point of the party? They just meld into the major parties.

I should've worded my comment differently. I meant to say independents. While these people may share general ideas with people from the two larger parties, they may have different plans, for better or for worse. I just think it's ridiculous how people refuse to vote outside of the primary candidate for either party because they believe they are putting their ballot straight in to a garbage disposal. What they fail to realize is that independents can't make a difference because of people like them and that cockamamie viewpoint and that's why we have a two party system.
