Actually Guy Fakes attempted to blow up parliament to send a message about religious freedom as England at the time was protestant and he was catholic and you had to be whatever the king at the time was or you faced prosecution. Terrorists blew us up the twin towers based on hate and nutterbutterness. So I don't quite see the comparison between the two. One act was to right an injustice the other just to kill people cause you didn't like em.
While it's true it was "required" your religion was that of the king, the main reason the Gun Powder Treason Plot took place was to usurp Parliament and establish a completely Catholic-run government. So either thing would have been bad. They weren't doing it for freedom, they were doing it to kill the current government and replace it with a church.
