lol No wars? I guess we don't count all the conflict over the Iraqi Liberation Act and the subsequent Operation Desert Fox where he bombed the living hell out of the Middle-east.

Though the content is ridiculous and we were in conflicts, those were technically still not wars..

My two cents.
#125 to #118 - WhatTheJesse (11/06/2012) [-]
The United States has not formally declared war since World War II, so everything between now and then has been 'conflicts'.

We declared war on Iraq? or am I lost?

I should probably read a history book.

First of all the economy was good under clinton because of the massive technological boom, in terms of computers and electronics. This has nothing to do with Bill Clinton, it was all the working of the private sector. And does anyone remember the eight different terrorist attacks on U.S. soil that Clinton did absolutely nothing about, yeah the good old days my ass
User avatar #33 - philliyoMLB (11/05/2012) [-]

Housing bubble. Housing bubble everywhere.
#47 to #38 - bosman (11/06/2012) [-]
The housing bubble was in the Bush years, Clinton had the Dotcom bubble, which really wasnt a big deal because it didn't melt down like the housing market did.
User avatar #61 to #47 - Yardie ONLINE (11/06/2012) [-]
The housing bubble was caused under Clinton with the Federal takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and faulty housing loans because of the deregulation combined with the subsidizing.

Bush was a ****** president, but he did see the bursting of the bubble coming while everybody called him a retard for even suggesting there was a housing bubble. Too bad he didn't do **** about it.

******* Nimrod, ******* up our economy.

User avatar #169 to #162 - demandsgayversion (11/06/2012) [-]
I'm not sure that's right, I think I misgoogled.
User avatar #166 to #162 - demandsgayversion (11/06/2012) [-]
I'm accusing Nimrod, the name given to whoever was the world's first political leader.
#176 to #166 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
I'm not sure if I quite follow. Are you saying politicians just suck, and don't contribute a hell of a whole lot to the economy.
User avatar #181 to #176 - demandsgayversion (11/06/2012) [-]
I tried googling the very first noted politician in history, and I ended up with a name, Nimrod. Upon further review, I think I misread something along the way. If every president is a victim of the one before it, I was going back all the way for a joke. Backfired.
#189 to #181 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]

So much truth, you seem to have an understanding of the economic cycle.
User avatar #140 to #136 - srskate (11/06/2012) [-]
Not in the slightest. I'm far to young to understand it well. I just know that the president always takes soooo much **** for things he can't always control.
#147 to #140 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
yeah that is a fairly true statement as well, for any president to have a true effect on an economy he needs to be in office for about two terms seeing as the economic cycle fluctuates over the course of at least 8 years, and during 4 year periods we will see small expansionary periods due to polices that were enacted to help the current president look good where in turn they usually lead to inflation in more recent years it has turned into stagflation. Some of what I just said may be a little off do to not being in economics for awhile.
#152 to #147 - srskate (11/06/2012) [-]
huh, well i guess ya learn something new every day.

i had to google stagflation for one.
huh, well i guess ya learn something new every day.

i had to google stagflation for one.
#159 to #152 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
yeah stagflation is a newer concept do to the supply side of the market not having a huge effect on the economic cycle until more recent times, and that is due to western civilization, and the two world wars heavily effecting the economic cycle, all of which help create different economic models. Stagflation started to become more prevalent after oil prices started. and a general definition of stagflation is inflation and unemployment happening at the same time. I really feel a Macro Economics class would really enrich a lot of peoples lives.
User avatar #160 to #159 - srskate (11/06/2012) [-]
It'd definitely be a nice addition to a well rounded population. Seems like it would be better to take than another damn English credit.

(just for the record, I'm currently in Highschool, but im dreading the required english credit I'll have to get.)
#161 to #160 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
I was able to take creative writing my senior year, I enjoyed it a lot. I actually got a couple of poems published that I wrote in that class, and from what I know most high school economics classes don't get that in depth into economics, so said my professor when I took macro and micro econ. but depending on where you live they might actually teach legit econ. in high school.
User avatar #168 to #161 - srskate (11/06/2012) [-]
I was talking about the college English credit. Right now im in AP English, but I have heard most colleges don't accept the credit.
I might take an economics class in college, but my schedule for high school is filled up.
#175 to #168 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
Oh very cool. Economics is a great course to take I found it very interesting, and eye opening about political matters, but some people will disagree with that notion seeing as most usually struggle with that course. It is mainly a class with a lot of graphs, models, and conceptual thinking, its very unlike any course I have taken before. I would probably take micro and then macro if I were you. and most high school classes don't count towards college but I have heard of AP classes awarding some credits towards a local community college do to the course study being close, I would talk about the credit options that are available with the class.
User avatar #179 to #175 - srskate (11/06/2012) [-]
Ive heard that a lot of my AP classes are actually harder than the college courses, but that in itself is a bit of a long story.

And it seems like a class I could get into. My brain is very numbers oriented.
#195 to #179 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
Well I wish you luck with your future endeavors thanks for the chat. Time to do my accounting home work. Good night.

gnight to you too
#186 to #179 - darkace (11/06/2012) [-]
Well the funniest thing about the class is their is very few numbers involved, but if you are good with numbers and math you will most likely easily get the concepts in the class, and I do believe AP classes are harder than introductory college courses.
