Phobia is not just being afraid of something, it's being afraid of something beyond norm. Phobias interfere with your everyday life, they are irrational.
Yes, it's fine to be afraid of falling down, however, it's not ok to be afraid of looking out a third floor window and expecting the building to fall. That is irrational.

I bet none of you here have actual arachnophobia. If you did, you wouldn't be able to wear shorts, walk around house bare-foot and even look at a spider without crying hysterically and running out of your house as if there is a rapist inside.

Arachnophobia is rather irrational, most spiders can't do you any harm... unless you live in australia that is

You know what really grinds my gears?

People who call 14 year old kids virgins, FOR FUCKS SAKE THATS WHY KIDS ARE FUCKING THESE DAYS

you call some kid online a virgin as an insult whats he gunna do? hes gunna go fuck a girl his age to feel better about himself because its "cool" to fuck at that age, why is it cool to fuck at that age? because you ignorant fucks insult them for it, and then you question why the 14 year old down the street is walking around 8 months pregnant in short shorts and a bra

Why did 'they' misuse the phobia ending when inventing the word homophobia. If you don't like gays, doesn't mean you're scared of them ...

... "oh no! run, you'll catch their gay!!"

It is an irrational fear if it disturbs with your daily life. Most people are afraid of falling from extreme heights. The phobia comes in when someone is afraid to go into a tall building when it is safe like the person before me said or they are afraid to climb a ladder. Also to have a phobia there must be extreme anxiety. Feeling uncomfortable about heights isn't a phobia, breaking down crying, going hysterical, and hiding from real life is. This goes for all phobias.

It's not that the fear itself is irrational, it's that you fear it irrationally.

Yes, you should be cautious on a precipice, but that doesn't mean that you should have a panic attack.

A fear of heights is Irrational, however fear of Falling is Evolutionary.

Arachnophobia is also Irrational, seeing how most spiders are small enough to fit under a shoe and most aren't immune to insecticide.

Something is only a phobia when the fear is irrational like Acrophobia is when you're in a tall building and look outside and start hyperventilating because u realized how high you are. If you are on a dilapidated, unstable bridge and you have to cross it you will most likely be scared, that isn't Acrophobia that is just a logical fear of something potentially dangerous.

Coulrophobia - Fear of Clowns. Not all phobias are irrational no, but many are considered to be so by the general populace.

What grinds my gears is when someone doesn't understand the definition of something. A Phobia is a fear (rational or not) that is had for irrational reasons. Like if someone is scarred of going to the empire state building because they're afraid of heights. Why the hell would being in a tall building scare you? Or someone freaking out because the see a tarantula on TV. Like it's going to bite you through the TV.

If someone calls something racist when it is actually just a stereotype it really bothers me, and it happens all the time. For example: black people liking KFC is a stereotype and everyone calls it racist.

I have a few fears, but they fail in comparison to my biggest fear. Just the thought of it makes me feel sick.

Death. Death is my biggest fear. Not the actual dying part, but more, what comes after. No one in the world knows. Some might say paradise, some might say hell. But what seems the most logical, is the most scary. You lose your consciousness. You lose your memories, emotions, feelings, everything and you are stuck with a darkness you can't even be aware of...forever. With no end. Just darkness and silence, without even your happy memories to comfort you. All the good you did, all the bad, everything you did in your life, meaningless and forgotten. By you, and eventually, everyone on earth. Thats fucking terrifying.

I'm extremely claustrophobic, and I'm also really scared of being a large space by myself. They kind of cancel each other out, but hey.

I'm also scared of public toilets. That one is irrational.
