Seeding is where you are helping others download the torrent. Basically a few people were seeders for you so you could download the torrent. Once you finish downloading you become a seeder.

Its basically giving a tiny bit of your bandwidth and letting people use it to download the files. Depending on your speed its usually negligible if you've got more than a few megs up/down or a pain in the ass if you have slow internet already. Doesn't affect your computer's speed whatsoever.
