They already had Star Wars: The Clone Wars series for a while, after CN gave up on it.

Well, it is set around 30 years after the last film. Maybe.
So that wouldn't be a problem. The problem is that they probably wouldn't want to do any more Star Wars. Harrison Ford barely went along with acting Han Solo in Return of the Jedi.

Stallone is 70, he still acts! Ignore my feeble arguments, I just really want Solo.

Still, I felt bad for Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 4. Stallone's at least got steroids and a bunch of other shit, Ford's just got pure experience.

Watching his old man ass get dragged around in IJ4 was just....sad.

That's pretty close to Disney's timeline

Yes but the first 3 movies were to make movies that he Lucas cared about, the ewoks were the only real gimmicky thing. These will most likely be so full of ewok equivilents that they will be like the original transformers, just a medium to promote the sale of toys.

Every successful franchise ever produces products outside of the show/movie
Ewoks were basically demanded as something that was sellable to children, which sort of fucked up that part of the movie
But the lore of Star Wars has basically already been fully established
It would be difficult to make a good series and introduce a fuckload of new species
People, including myself, would be pissed
On the other hand, there's a HUGE amount of content that hasn't been put onto film
The Old Republic, Darth Plagueis, the rise of the Empire (between III and IV)
Again, the new series could go either way, but no one's forcing anyone to see it

Remember, they arn't just catering to 10 year olds, there are also a fuckton of Star Wars nerds out there.

Marvel made Avengers while being owned by Disney. Miramax was owned by Disney when they got the greenlight to make Pulp Fiction. This might suck, or it might be great. Depends on the writers. But I think Disney has proven that we should blame the actual writers for the finished product, not who's paying them.

If it's bad don't watch it. No one is forcing you to.

The movies will not go off of any of the already written lore, or so it has been reported.

uh i've done my homework, its been confirmed any lore (books, games, etc) that conflicts with what this movie is going to be about is no longer considered canon. and theyve confirmed mark hamil, harrison ford, and carrie fisher are going to be the main characters
