The end of the last season made me cringe. It's the most overused thing in cinema and it irritated me that they had to use it in a decent program like Sherlock.

spoiler Well he jumps off a building, hit the concrete and is confirmed dead by Watson seconds after it happens. Everyone thinks he's dead, but at the end of the last episode we see him miraculously alive with no plausible explanation given (or possible).

Yeah I've seen it.
It doesn't seem exactly clichéoverall to me, perhaps the reveal was and the plot was very basic, but in my opinion it fits in well with the themes and characteristics of the show and hasn't been done nearly the same in very many other places.

A main charactersupposedly being dead and then still being alive by somehow having faked their death is probably the most used Hollywood trick, just to keep the audience happy at the end. The only explanation that I see fit is that in the stories Sherlock Holmes really dies, but is brought back to life by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle due to complaints by readers, rather than because he actually faked it.

Actually, John grabs his wrist and doesn't feel a pulse, technically that doesn't mean dead.
Notice the bouncy ball he was playing with before he went to the roof? There's a trick you can actually do by placing it under your arm to stop your pulse.
There are multiple plausible (and some not so plausible) theories on how he survived the actual fall itself. Ranging from the truck we see just drive off as he hit the ground had something to break his fall, to the Doctor saving him in the TARDIS swimming pool.

Sorry, i'm a little bit of a Sherlock nerd. Didn't mean to babble at you, just thought you might be interested.
