I hated him last season, because he wouldn't stay in the fucking house and just fucked everything up.
But now that he's able to contribute and pull his weight, I see his as a miniature member of the group, his small stature artificially increasing the levels of his badassery tenfold.
So now I like him.
Admittedly it was stupid to go and fetch supplies, but he actually got something done instead of getting someone killed (Dale).

I'm not saying he was needed, but Carl stilled got him killed. They could have made it so Dale got Alzheimer's or something and wondered off into the woods, never to be seen again. I would have enjoyed that much more.

In the comics, Dale died a much more brutal death than in the show. Be glad that he died that way in the show.

He's a 2 dimensional character. He's a brat, who thinks he's helpful and no one has the balls to tell him to shut up. He also tries to be all hardcore and independent every chance he can get, meanwhile, these attempts almost always end in screwing up the rest of the group's plans. Carl also reminds me of every spoiled kid I see today; the arrogant "I'm awesome" attitude. The lack of care for anyone but themselves. It just drives me nuts. That, and most child actors are horrible, and unfortunately, The Walking Dead has like 3 of them.
