Probably. I lived in Auckland for about 5 years and I can tell you now, it's a shithole. Christchurch, when it's not quaking the fuck out, is a pretty good place to live, but if you can stand the cold Dunedin's the shit. Mostly college students and young adults there.

Hamilton is one of the safest places to be in NZ, unless you're on the roads.
