Minecraft - Don't Fear the Creeper

I avoid them whenever possible, too much risk of destroying my houses and portals. That being said, I do gather gunpowder if a creeper tries to blow itself up.

I'll be honest, I do farm endermen when I want pearls/eyes, and zombies for meat and blazes for rods, but I try to avoid combat, I prefer to mine and explore as much landscape as possible.

Do you know how a man can get his hands on one of those Aether portals I keep hearing about?

The Aether is a mod isn't it? or is it in vanilla minecraft now? I haven't played for a few weeks, I might be out of date.

I think an Aether portal is the same as a nether one except glowstone replaces the obsidian and you use a bucket of water on it to light it. Not sure though

Every damn time I play this game, I always get my shit rocked.

I finally find a semi-abundance of Iron, make a couple swords and picks, and then BAM! A waterfall pushes me under, my hunger meter runs dry, a creeper falls down with me, and lava takes my last heart away as I try to crawl out for breathe.

Any Minecrafter's out there with some tips? Some pointers on surviving? I'm trying really hard to enjoy this game, but it's hard when I lose all of my valuable shit.

I tried that, but it's kinda fun to have that constant fear of Creepers and Endermen. Skeletons can suck my dick, though.

I might just have to go ahead and do that until I find valuable ores, then turn it on to normal mode.

Make a house, Make a bed, sleep in it, nvr carry your valuables with ya, that's what chests are for. Carry and enderchest with you. Make a mine shaft, with chests everywhere. So many way around it. Also try eating something, it might help that whole hunger thing.

I've found it good carry only needed stuff and keep the rest in my house. (like one sword, pick, torches. Nothing fancy) You can also try making a minecart chest to go into the mine with you to store items in so you don't need to make such a huge trek to your house and your haul will at least be safe.
