Pascal's Wager is a large pile of ********* , actually.

See, in order for it to be any kind of viable, Christianity and atheism would need to be the only two options. They aren't.

Judaism, Islam, Shinto, Buddhism, Hinduism, not to mention the hundreds of lost Pagan religions the world over are all equal to Christianity or atheism. In order for it to be plausible, you would need to be a devout member of every religion on the face of the earth, which is impossible.

Also, your supposition for "atheists are right" is incorrect. Atheists (the proper ones, anyway) state that they dont't know what the afterlife looks like, assuming that it even exists. Atheism doesn't put forth any ideas - it is merely thinking that there is no god of any description.

Honestly, the greek and roman gods made logical sense. They didn't try to explain why bad things happened with an omniscient, omnipotent, benevolent deity in charge; the people of the time were well aware that their gods were a bunch of hooting dickholes, and they were okay with it.

Pic slightly related.

OP, are you trying to say that all Atheists are childlike?

'Cause that TOTALLY wouldn't start an epic ********* or anything...

We're all born atheist. Like all other forms of hate and bigotry, religion must be taught.

"We're all born atheist. Like all other forms of hate and bigotry, religion must be taught"

The point I was making is science must be taught, too. So your original comment completely missed your point.

I'm all for religion if you truly believe in it, but i just hate how people baptize their kids who aren't even aware of how many fingers they have, let alone fully control them. If a kid can't think for himself don't make him a part of something he can't understand.
User avatar #58 to #52 - sicohippy (10/18/2012) [-]
no, they aren't but its more the fact that they expect their children to worship without any knowledge of the religion, let alone what religion even is. another thing is i know people who are like 16 and 17 and they have told their parents they don't believe in any god, but their parents wont let them decide for themselves and continue to force the religion on them until they're adults/ no longer living with them. If you don't believe you dot believe its that simple. if you're going to baptize your child as well at least wait until he/she is at a self conscious age like 5 or 6, but people baptize their kids at like 4 or 5 months old.
