HEY FJ, GUESS WHAT!
Grades have absolutely NOTHING to do with intelligence! You know those people who you think are ******* retarded but still get good grades by some miracle? They WORK. A LOT. In fact (this is just speculation and in no way proven by fact), high grades may even prove that stupid people try harder to achieve pointless things than smart people do because they don't question the reasoning behind grades. Have you ever questioned why the grading system is necessary? YOU PROBABLY HAVE. Has your questioning of said system dropped your grades? ALSO PROBABLY; KNOW WHY? BECAUSE YOU DON'T SEE THE ******* POINT TO IT, AND, SPOILER ALERT, THERE ISN'T ONE! Stupid people, however, follow the circular logic of getting good grades to get in to a good college/university, to get a good job, to make money, to afford a good education for their kids, so THEY can get into a good college, yadda, yadda, yadda. I'm not saying the system doesn't work, or that people don't need -abstractly valued- money to live in modern society, but when you look at the big picture behind it, the entire process is pretty pointless.

For those of you who tl;dr: Grades are no sign of intelligence, only effort, and only seem to promote the idea of some people being better than others among children.
ALSO: George Carlin, because this really seems like something he would say.

while grades may be a flawed system, that doesn't mean that they don't matter and that you shouldn't try on them. good luck trying to explain to a potential employer that you only got a 2.0 because you believe that they are part of a flawed system. Also, Work ethic is probably just as important to success as intelligence. If you're smart but don't have the determination to actually do anything the you're just as useless as a stupid person. I personally don't think grades necessarily reflect intelligence but I still spend a lot of time working on them because I'd like to be able to afford a nice house and lifestyle after I graduate.

Intelligence doesn't get **** done. If you're an absolute genius, but you're lazy as **** , what good are you going to do? If you're a person of average intelligence with an actual work ethic and a goal, you're going to do something; no matter how little.

I believe it's Hlade's Law that says:
"Give a difficult task to a lazy man; he will find an easier way to do it."
