He didn't pull out his parachute.. it went automaticly.
i think if it were up to him, he would have fallen 8 more seconds to break the world record

I believe it was at 4:12 sec, while the record was at 4:36 sec. so he had to go a long way, not sure but i heard the commentator saying "he pulled the chute" or something like that.

He pulled the chute by himself. The stabilization chute were only for an emergency. The reason he pulled it too early was the he's visor got misted.
But he still did 3 other world records on the way.
