I always drew my family, my drawings were awful, but my father would always say "Print it out, ill use it" and smile at me.

MFW ten to twelve years later i went into the back of his work van to load fire extinguishers and attached to the rear of the cab separation wall was every single drawing i did on the computer as a child.

This part may be too long, but you can read it if you like
My father found me sitting there looking at them and said something to me that he has only said eight times in my life. He told me he loved me and he was proud of me. The times i can remember him doing that were the first time i took a hard fall as a child and got up. The first time i stood up for myself. The first time i stood up for my friends. The only time i told my grandmother (my moms mom) off because she was talking bad about how my father was overweight (which is actually a hilarious story) and when i graduated high school with a scholarship to a good university. I am told that he said it the day i was born, the first time that i made him laugh and the day that i introduced my girlfriend to my parents(they didn't stay for long and he told my mom)

When I was a kid and I did any painting/drawing, my mum would look at it, smile, and congratulate me.

My dad would look at it and ask me why I wasted my time when I could have learnt something important.

Sad, but true story.

My father's too "macho" to tell me he loves me, but I know he does and he's a fantastic father so it doesn't bother me :)

Always listen to what your parents say because its true, you don't want to end up like me. I'm 16 and my mom passed away when i was 4, and my dad who I never had a good relationship with and barely talked to, passed on August 5th. It's alot different when they're not there bro.

Doesn't matter if your drawings were complete crap. You had a good dad and regardless of what you drew a good father will take pride in your drawings at a very young age.

When i was young, i think maybe about 8 i was at my grandmothers house. I was an athletic kid growing up, even still i got made fun of a lot cause i was a big kid, tall and broad shouldered, a lot of other kids got napoleon complexes from being around me or some ****, so i didn't like when people got made fun of. My grandmother wasn't a very kind person until maybe 4 years ago when she started to get better, she still has moments though. Anyways my father walked in, my father being a survivor of the type of diabetes that you're born with, and lost his sight in his left eye as a result, and eventually had to have a kidney and pancreas transplant to get rid of the diabetes, who also survived two strokes, and at that point most recently a heart attack. My grandmother saw him come in, and because of the medications he was on (steroids) my father had a belly. My grandmother stated loudly enough for the entire family to hear "My Bill you have gotten fat haven't you?" Without missing a beat i said "excuse me?!" my grandmother gave me a look that said "silence you little ****" I continued very loudly "PEOPLE WHO ARE FAT SHOULD NOT MAKE FUN OF THOSE WHO ARE A LITTLE FAT CAUSE THOSE PEOPLE ARE FAT IN THE FIRST PLACE" and my dad burst out laughing. I was grabbed by my grandma who said "CHILDREN ARE MEANT TO BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD!" and i said as defiantly and loudly as i could "POG MO THÓIN CAILLEACH" which i honestly didn't know if it made sense or not, i simply combined a few words i know which i hoped meant "Kiss my ass hag!" my grandmother raised her hand to slap me and my mother grabbed her hand, i could tell by her voice she was beyond pissed off. She said very quietly "you won't touch my son" and my grandma flipped ****, she ran (the only time i have ever seen it happen) out of the room screaming obscenities in old irish. My dad turned around and stated "THIS IS MY SON AND I AM PROUD OF THAT!" and everyone started laughing.
