No, the videos are much higher quality now so it takes a lot longer for them to load, and few years back you could pause a video and since you stopped playing it it would buffer all the way because of reasons.

It still very much does that. Even for 1080p videos. That's what I usually do whenever Brainscratchcomms uploads a video, I pause it and let the whole video buffer before I start watching it
