As much as you are right, you are equally wrong. I'm sorry you got reds.

so old people shouldn't be allowed to get married? infertile people? people who just don't want to have kids?

Wrong. Marriage allows for the extension of health insurance to a spouse (at least in the states). If a man and a woman are married and one gets sick and doesn't have health insurance (for whatever reason including but not limited to being laid off due to the **** economy) The insured could use benefits to cover their spouse. Two homosexuals in the same situation cannot due that since civil union of two members of the same sex is prohibited.

Plus you have issues like life insurance benefits and joint filing of taxes/returns.

TL;DR: Marriage isn't just about babies, it includes a lot of legal benefits that should not be limited to sexual orientation.

look, its not like i particularly give a **** .

im just saying originally thats what marriage was created for. the special bond between man and woman to procreate.

First off, I didn't insult you, extend the same courtesy.
Secondly, you are right. ORIGINALLY marriage was between a man and a woman. Times change. Nowadays we see many same sex-couples who just want the same rights to love as a man and a woman. What exactly is wrong with that?

Is the marriage always about babies? Can't a couple who love each other marry?

Or should all couples who don't get kids get a divorce?

well marriage is originally a religious ceremony really, so religions kinda do have a say in the matter

not saying im opposing gays.. the only gays I oppose are the ones who insist on sticking out like a sore ugly thumb to prove a point and act more like girls than girls do

yeah so im saying you can love each other but marriage is a religios thing and if youre going against religion then you cant really complain, right?
User avatar #458 to #457 - djbs (09/29/2012) [-]
I think that it has become less and less of a religious thing. For example, now you can become married by going to the appropriate government office, there are people who just marry for citizenship into the US, and there are those who get married for benefits(tax breaks).
