Your dad just threw you at a woman, or you wore water wings the first time?

I went to this place on vacation one year - we were the only white people there. When we went to the pool this kid was giving swimming lessons to his younger brother. He would hold his hands under him to keep him afloat as he tried to swim, all the while yelling
"YOU BETTA SWIM NIGGA, SWIM! KICK YOU LEGS NIGGA, KICK YOU LITTLE LEGS! YOU GONNA DROWN NIGGA, YOU BETTA SWIM! KICK NIGGA! SWIM NIGGA, NIGGA BETTA SWIM!"

According to my parents, they put me in an above-ground doughboy pool when I was about six months old, then let go of me to see if I would swim.
They intended to lift me back above the surface if I didn't, but I apparently began underwater dog-paddling and they could barely catch me, and when they did, I was already trying to get away so I could paddle around and go back under the water.
Learned how to hold my breath and come up for air on my own immediately afterward.
I still love swimming, but our town's public pool closed down. All of my sadness. :c
Picture related, it's my dog in the only pool we currently own.

My dad taught me how swim by pushing me and the water. I struggled at first but I eventually learned how swim from it.
However it was quite hard to get of the sack he put me in.

My dad chucked me in a lake with all my clothes still on.
And I still didn't know how to swim.
Worst 18th birthday ever.

Reminds me of how I learned to ride a bike. My parents would leave me with my aunt and grandma for the summer. Being the crazy bitch that my aunt was, she decided to teach me how to ride a bike by forcing me to get on the bike and then pushing me down a hill. Every time I fell and horribly hurt myself she'd just go "Aw, walk it off, you little baby! Now stop crying and get back on the damn bike!"

On the plus side, now I don't mind walking 3 kilometres as long as I don't have to get on a bike.
