I am ok with gay people... However i am not ok with them telling my child that being gay is amazing, beautiful, and one of the best feelings some one can have. I want my kid to choose his sexuality on his own and i dont think my kid needs a description of what it feels like thank you. I also dislike it when they make really public displays.

I think I might be able to offer some insight. Personally, I don't think the government should give out marriage licenses in the first place. That's the problem. Since the government is still giving out marriage licenses, people need to come to a consensus on what constitutes marriage. There is a segment of the population that believes, because of religious reasons, that marriage is between one man and one woman. So, whenever it comes to a vote, and that segment is asked "What is marriage?" they give their answer. I'm not defending their position, but I think I have a pretty good understanding of why they hold it. It would be like if the government asked you to define religion and specify what counts and what doesn't count as a religion, because it was going to tax religious people at a lower rate. Then, I get mad at you because under your definition, my beliefs don't count as a religion. I shouldn't be mad at you for your answer, I should be mad at the government for asking you in the first place.
And then there are legitimate homophobes who actually think that gay people are destroying the country. I'm not defending them, but I think they're a smaller percentage of the public than people like to think. Then again, I live in the Northwest...

This is the wrong logic, most people who have a problem with gay marriage being against their religion think of it as the gay people going to the doughnut factory and shitting in the doughnut mix... they're more worried about the whole sanctity or whatever of their marriage meaning less because, "hey if the gays can do it, pretty much anyone or anything can because the sanctity of the whole concept of marriage is ruined by letting them do it." I feel like that is closer to what they believe.

I have a problem with people who are against gay marriage. Not because of their beliefs, it's their right to believe whatever they want to believe and I have no quarrels with that but I have a problem with people who say "The bible says it's wrong so it should be illegal!" for two reasons. 1) That's just one religion, and as Americans we fled from England so that religion wouldn't interfere with laws. And 2) The bible also says that you aren't allowed to divorce...ever.

In short, if you want to outlaw gay marriage, outlaw divorce as well. It's only fair.

I am one who is against gay marriage. Now let me explain why I believe it shouldn't be allowed. Let me start by saying that I agree with you about divorce. Next, gay marriage shouldn't be allowed as a marriage in my opinion, but I have no problem with a civil union. Where it becomes an issue with me is gays that want to be married in a church, where the person marrying them is reading from the BIBLE, the same book that prohibits the action they are preforming. Same goes for divorcees though too. Want to be together? Fine. Want to be "joined" in a church? Not fine.

Do you honestly think that most gay people would want to get married by a man of god in a church? That isn't the only way to be legally married. My parents were married by a Justice of the Peace in a park. I know people that have been married by a ships captain. Why would someone choose to be married by a group that has been persecuting them (going to hell for being gay, etc.) when they have multiple other options?

And America was formed on the idea of separating church from state. By forcing laws to abide with the bible, not only are you going against the forefathers wishes, but you are really not much better than Iran.

Adding god to the pledge and currency was only implimented in the 1950s during the Red Scare because people believed that if communism was going to take over, the first thing to go would be religion so we go scared and slapped the word god on things to try to prevent that. Hmmm what do you think the founding fathers would say if they saw what their nation had become. And I don't mean society. I don't think they developed either the pledge or the current money design. Personally, as a Canadian, I am against pledge of allegiance especially one that contains the any religious implications, as well as the use of god in any governmental institution. if America was intended to be a christian state, it would be enshrined in the constitution.

Yes because there is no ligitimate reasons why two people that are in love and happen to be of the same gender cannot get married. If there was one aside from "we allz goes tuh hellz cause fags can marry" and "da bible sayz so, so it's law". If you want to say that gays can't get married in a church, I understand that, most probably wouldn't choose to do so. But that decision is up to the individual church.

I think one of the main reasons it was bad back then was because of population, back then we needed our populations to grow, and gays would prevent that, but now, we need more adoptions and less births

Western society was built on Christianity and its values...(make that some interpretations of its values) and they still persevere. Traditional family is one of core values so any meadling with it is bound to make problems
