Worth the read

r Subway‘
fused to work at Subway a couple months ago, but Iquit. And
what made me quit was one time a homeless man came in to get
a sandwich. He asked f the sandwich would be more than .
line of my coworkers told him no and he carried on. When he got
down to the register, he was searching frantically for his money,
and with such shame on his face he said he couldn' t find it and
started to leave. But mailed out to him and said Iwould pay for
it. mot my credit card and paid for an entire meal for this man,
with no discounts. Completely in full. He thanked me over and
over. Then when the next person in line got to the register she
told me how nice of thing Idid. Now when everyone left Iwas in
the back cleaning and my manager yelled at me. Telling me that
f someone can' t pay for their food you tell them to leave. Ilold
her that Twasn' t going to let him starve. It was 115 degrees
outside. He was probably exhausted, dehydrated and very
hungry. Iwas so baffled about the fact that Ijust got in trouble
for helping someone in need. Iwas being constantly told by
owners and supervisors of the company that this was a business
about people and making people happy. But Iguess the homeless
aren' t people. So Iquit a week later.

Seriously, this is bugging me, but how can you prove homelessness. Some jerk looking for a free meal could easily dress up in crappy clothes just for a free sandwich, I mean the gesture is great, but there are some real jerks just waiting to exploit things like this to save money -_-

I dont think someone would go through the trouble of dressing homeless just to save a few bucks on a sandwich. Plus there is no guarantee that you will get one.

they do. There is actually people that consider begging their job. Sometimes, depending where they beg, they can come away with six digits a year. As sickening as it is, people do exploit the kindness of others like that.

Yeah, there were a couple in a city near where I used to live that used to do that a lot. Finally one of them made the paper when someone snapped a photo of him begging and then a later photo of them getting into his car he kept parked like 4 blocks from where he would con people. Can't remember what brand it was, but it wasn't a lower end car like a KIA Rio or other $20,000 and under vehicles.

Well, seeming it's only 3-5pm it would only give the person 2 hours to go through the trouble of dressing up and getting dirty and smell bad just to get a free sandwich...So i agree, it would be too much trouble just to go through that.

So what if the guy isn't homeless? Are you going to deny a potentially homeless man a meal because you suspect he might in fact have one?

No, these things happen. Awesome companies that we love, especially food joints, always get stuck with managers in their 30's and 40's cause their lives never amounted to anything. They are miserable and suck at their job so they take it out on everyone in every way possible, no matter how retarded they are being.

Worked at Starbucks, my manager was ******* retarded. I believe this story 100%

I help old people pay for meals all the time when I'm at the register and they don't have the money. I got **** for it once because I gave someone a coupon bonus and they left the coupon at home by mistake. It's the little things that count.

What do tigers dreams of?
When they take a little tiger snooze
Do they dream of mauling zebras
Or Hallie Barry in her catwoman suit

Same thing happened to me at Taco Bell, i got cussed out while the homeless dude was in the bathroom, he could hear the whole thing and there were no less than 10 customers in the restaraunt. When Marvin , (the homeless man) came outta the bathroom he slapped my manager across the face and said, "Ya like that? I didn't even wash my hands! And there was no toilet paper ya ****!" and ran out the door. Later he tried to fire me so I called the District Manager and told him i was quitting and the next day my manager had gotten fired. Don't **** with homeless people.

The subways in my area do not, or at the very least this program was inactive when I worked retail for two years(This was a few years back though.). Used to go to subway for lunch excessively because it was the closest place to get a decent sandwich.

I don't give a damn how many times I see something like this, I've been on that shameful end of the counter, and I've had people that would do things out of the kindness of their hearts regardless of where it put them, when I see things like this, it gives me such a great feeling of how good people can be at the right moments. I truly hope you never have or will go through homelessness, but maybe if you do you'll understand how meaningful these things are.

Just because it might have been reposted, or maybe even be fake, doesn't mean it isn't a good story. Anything that brings out the good side in people is worth a read.

Besides, the alternative to this is 'swag' posts, and everybody hates that ****.

Because the manager thinks that if this happens once, it might happen again, and she surely can't run a restaurant with a bunch of hobos in it.

P.S. Not advocating for the manager, he/she was a fat cunt.
