I don't buy the stuff about 'enjoying the taste' and all that bollox...but some time ago I was told a possible reason behind this (my High school geography teacher-long time ago). Thanks to that 'inpracticable' solution, they eat in a bit different way then we would with, for example, spoon: more reps, smaller portion goes in to your mouth each time. This way, a smaller 'dish' will make you feel 'stuffed' (ok a bit of an exaggeration - but you know what I mean.) Now. If you take China population into the account - imagine how much food they would have to produce/import to satisfy all that people, eating with spoons or forks -> Hence old Chinese wise men came up with this chop sticks solution. Not sure if that's what really happened, but it make sense. At least a bit :D

"If you take China population into the account"
- But does this imply that China was the most populated nation on Earth since the dawn of time?
Chopsticks have been used for thousands of years.
You know, the answer probably lies on Wikipedia ... but instead of educating myself I'm going to be more useful and play video games.
