I'm not saying I disagree with you but I honestly don't believe woman have it harder. They face different challenges than men do, and since neither party can understand or appreciate each others unique struggle we both think the other sex has it easier. I think it basically all balances out in the end, women might have it a bit harder because of periods though, but on the other hand guys have to deal with the cranky women without knowing beforehand of their situation so it could end disastrously for the man involved.

being in shape, being unimaginably muscular, buying all the nicest clothes/shoes, being charismatic all the fucking time, making every first move in regards to dating, have to be hard as a statue the whole time during every sexual encounter ever, have to always buy/bring the condoms, have to respect women's boundaries, have to know what boundaries to cross, have to read fucking minds, have to shave your face every day or grow out the manliest beard ever, you can't have chest hair or you're gross, you have to have chest hair or you're not a man, back hair is always nasty, etc etc

Eh, you've been hanging with the wrong girls. I don't expect anything from a guy except being nice and having some form of hygiene. I've had some guys not able to get it up for some reason or the other, but I never judge. I have condoms in my room, and I get offended by next to nothing. I don't care if a guy shaves or not, but I would hope he wouldn't freak out if I do the same. Girls who claim all of this is hard are being whiny bitches, and guys who claim that all girls are like that just haven't been hanging out with the right chicks. I'm everything I said above PLUS I can't seem to get a date :/ It's all luck.

Don't take what I said to mean that I think all girls think that way, or that the social pressures are at all credible. I'm just saying that they exist, and that some people actually do care about it. I've had a girl tell me the only thing cool about me was my hairstyle. It was back when longer hair was cool, and I was just trying to fit in. With an idea in mind, I cut almost all of it off, going to the standard guy haircut. She instantly changed her perspective of me. So I never talked to her again. Then there was an ex of mine who loved me for me and not for anything superficial (the terms of our break-up were complicated, but rest assured it wasn't for anything stupid.)

It's not that I've been hanging out with the wrong girls all the time, it's just what I've noticed as a passive observer. And you're right, a lot of it is just pure luck. But don't be dismayed when the right people aren't randomly appearing at your doorstep, a lot of the time you can meet great people by being active in your community and being more involved in things that interest you. There are bound to be people who share your same interests that are great people as well. Just keep lookin :)

I think some of it is assumed from what people say. If I say "Oh damn I'm lazy, I need to go to the gym" Some people take it as "Oh god I'm so fat. I'm going to run until I pass out because I'm a pig and I deserve it" Stereotypes take a lot out of people. It takes away from the person they actually are.
