bullshit as fuck, avarage speed of bullet is about 1km/s thats the fucking triple the speed of sound so they wouldnt even hear it if they were 10 meters from the rifle. Provided that they would die instantly and besides thats still not the longest shot

i think its meant as that the targets were so far away the sound wouldnt reach that far in the given terrain. i.e. if the sniper had missed, they wouldnt have heard the shot.
Not that the bullet travels faster than sound, thats common knowledge.
