No, I made a mistake before, America nuking Hiroshima in Japan was an act of war, while 9/11 was a terrorist act, completely unrelated things but people always compare them.

Well people compare them because usually american people talk about 9/11 like it was the biggest atrocity in the world... when, althought it was an unexcusable terrorism act, it wasn't. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are an example

I've never heard any Americans say that 9/11 was the worst thing in the world, worst thing in America yes, because the only other attack on US soil was Pearl Harbour, another unprovoked attack.

I'm not american but in news and TV, some time ago, I heard how some americans were talking about that in that way like hinting it was the worst thing since WWII. I understand it was an unprovoked act of war (like, as you pointed, Pearl Harbour) and I understand it was horrible but it wasn't the worst thing in the lasts decades.
