I've been watching The Office all day so far
I've already seen it once before, but it's too good to not be repeated

I dislike him as a person but like his comedy, for the most part.

Like "The Invention of Lying" is an obvious shot at religion. I am not very religious myself, but having had the good sort of Christian up-bringing, I found it insulting. The way I see it is it doesn't matter what people choose to put their faith in, as long as it doesn't result in them causing trouble for other people. And if people choose to put their faith in something that isn't quantifiable, so be it, it doesn't give someone else licence to act like a massive dick about it.
"The Office" was alright with him in it, but I only say that after seeing the American remake.

I can't help but feel the same way about The Invention of Lying, however it's a very funny film. And even though it basically comes out and says every religion's bullshit, they also show that even if it's fake it comforts people so it's not necessarily a bad thing. Or he may have just been try to keep from a huge controversy by doing that, I don't know. Either way I agree with you but I still enjoy his scripted comedy. As a person he's a massive tool which is why I would never watch The Ricky Gervais show because it's just him being him and he's incredibly obnoxious in real life.
