In the U.S. the school board decides what to teach you, and where I grow up the school board sucks. English classes just wanted us to write papers about nothing and not teach us English. I didn't learn what a hyperbole was until I got to community college, and go figure I learned it from my History professor, who liked to use them in her lectures.
I'm concerned where the education system will be in ten years.

my high school requires you take an Economics class in 12th grade that teaches you about taxes, home and car purchases, and how to not be retarded with your money.
My school also requires you to take a government class to educate yourself about the current political system, how to vote, and how to choose political candidates to match your political beliefs.
if you don't take these two classes you won't graduate at my school. OP is on crack.

I'm going to rage just a little bit here:
The reason moat of you didn't learn this stuff is because american kids fucking listen. I learned almost everything mentioned there just for my citizenship test when I moved here from Mexico. Everything on that list is taught in any highschool civics or government class (often mandatory freshmen year). America gives you all all these opportunities and the reason you don't know shit is because you don't take advantage of them. There isn't anything wrong with the american system it's just the people that are fucked. Those lazy kids who don't know anything then grow up to be lazy adult politicians who then proceed to muddle around not really knowing what their doing and fuck shit up. I can only speak for america when I say this because it's the only place I received any lower education except for Mexico where they literally had a donkey tethered to the school house.
TLDR: get it the fuck together little gringos and maybe you'll make some positive impact of your own.

I've learned everything except how to write a check and how to do loans for college. We don't use checks in my country and we don't need loans for college, since our government pay for it.

School isn't supposed to teach you the basics of living.
Parents and experience are supposed to teach you "how to live". School is meant for knowledge specific to research and the bigger picture.

I'm studying Aerospace Engineering, and let me tell you that I am using EVERYTHING I learned in math.

To all the people who say "lol your school must have sucked": FUCK YOU.
Do you really think everyone gets to choose their school? Do you lack the concept that cars are fucking expensive and not everyone has a stay at home mommy to drive them to whatever school they want to go to? That in some towns, there's only one school in town? That they'd have to drive 3 hours to the next town to get a basic education?
No, because you're spoiled asshats who refuse to get a frame of reference. Thinking about other people's situations is like uncomfortable and shit.

If you can't see the importance of knowing the Pythagorean theorem, then your high school has indeed failed you. Just because you don't understand it's application doesn't mean it's useless. Wanna know what builds bridges? Pythagorean theorem. Buildings? Pythagorean theorem. That car you drive everyday? Pythagorean theorem. The lack of basic arithmetic skills in this country is absolutely pitiful. You want to know why China is surpassing us? They're actually educating their students in math.
Besides, all of the things you listed are things you could figure out in 2 or 3 hours with a few google searches.

Uh, I might get some hate for saying this, but...
School is supposed to give you education, not teach you how to get loans etc.
You can go to a bank and ask for information on the loans, how to get them, how to pay them, if they increase, etc.
But there are no Maths shops around, where you can go and ask "Yeah, so, could you tell me how to find that damn x ?"
Sure, depending on your future carreer, you might find Physics/Chemistry/Maths useless, but they are still education, which is what the school is supposed to give you.
