I hear ya man, i was so fucking relieved when i graduated, just knowing i didnt have to go back to a public school ever again in my life, i took a year off before going to college to live on my own with some friends, that feeling of absolutely 0 anxiety about school was the greatest feeling ever, but college is a totally different experience, i take only night classes so i can wake up when i want, go to work at noon, work like 8 hours and then go to my classes, i love that feeling of walking about campus in the middle of night smoking a jeffery once im done with class, something about it is just so peaceful

Ive done a fair bit of research into what first car Im going to have (sitting a few hours a week for the past 5 months) and Ive read up that Audis are rebadged Volkswagons, which usually start breaking real soon. If you can afford a new Audi then that's great. Buying used older than 8 or so years is a money pit. Sure they may look nice....but I want the Lexus for reasons other than looks. It's a toyota so reliability is god-tier and it'll run to 300k with good maintenance, nice power stock (300 HP, 310 torks, V8 master race), not bad MPG (24 highway), looks great, parts fairly cheap because toyota...and every moron will say "wow, you drive a lexus???"

All that "german engineering" is a fallacy. Audi and VW are shit in terms of long-term reliability (god help you if you buy a used VW older than 5 years old) and Audi isn't much better. Sad to say that BMW used to be king, but since 2003 theyve gone downhill too.

Lexus has so much money spent on engineering that it's stupid to mod things such as the wheel size or ride height because theyve put so much thought behind their reasoning that it's stupid to do so. Camaro or Civic sure, even Corolla; mod the hell out of it. But Lexus even though it IS a Toyota has a different level of care put into its engineering and building process

Base model (318 or 325) are shit tier. 30,000 bucks for a RWD generic car with a nice interior. Would not spend 30,000 bucks on that. Plus BMW parts are expensive as hell.

BUT M3s are god tier. Especially the older ones. The new one (E90-92 code) is not as good as the old one (E46 god-tier code) because BMW started experimenting with a naturally aspirated V8. The previous generation is amazing (E46 BMW M3 Laguna Seca Blue is my realistic dream car, pic related). This is when BMW still used the inline-6 motor which it is best at (343 HP out of a 6 cylinder is incredible, I think that holds the record for most power out of a stock inline-6 on a major production car) and it's coupled with the GETRAG manual transmission which is one of the best transmissions you can buy.

You can pick up a gently used E46 M3 for 18-22k, and I plan on doing so someday

Get a Gibson instead, and a Martin. more heads will turn when you play a les paul or a good dreadnought then when you drive by in a 9,000 car. plus you'll have some change. or save up some more and get an Austin mini cooper. either way you'll be a cool senior

well, a used gibson can be had for around 500-700, or maybe 1000. and used is the way to go, as long as it's not too beaten up, better construction, and it will already be set up properly, and intonated, just make sure the frets have even wear on them. a martin or old tacoma guitar is good too, can be had for about the same price, not to mention if you buy used, and take care of it, you can sell it for the same price or even a little bit greater later. as far as getting good enough, learn musical theory, it'll make being a virtuoso much easier/faster, and it's just a lot easier to play or learn by ear when you understand the theory of what's going on.

but if you don't get the guitar get the Austin Mini Cooper, those are the shit, and if speed is the problem just put in a honda or acura 4 cylinder engine, turns one into a drag racer.

I think it's pretty good for 10 months, honestly, the trouble with electrics is learning how to properly set your tone balance and distortion, not to mention pairing amps with guitars, and guitars with pickups, for now I'd stick to playing unplugged, that's how I still practice, I started when I noticed that in a bunch of interviews all the pros practiced unplugged, it's grace for the neighbors too :P
also, just play everything, and I mean everything, from rock, to blues, to classical, fingerpicking, shredding, bluegrass, jazz, everything.
learn to remember songs by muscle memory as opposed to actually recalling which notes to play, practice until it becomes a reflex. I still have times where I try to play a song that I haven't played in a few years, and I just reflexively start playing some part to it. and the biggest thing is that I'd stay away from song like pink floyd where the guitar is such a small part, not to mention a bit cliche'd to play. not to be rude, but in the words of one of my friends "don't be that guy who plays stairway. don't even learn the notes to the song, just don't even do it" those words have never lead me stray.
and good luck, you can get a mexican fender strat for around 100, 100 more will ket you two killer pickups, one in the neck and the other in the bridge, disconnect the middle one, and another 100 or so will get you a decent all steel replacement bridge and some good tuners for the strat, and you'll have something that will last forever. I was playing for almost 4 years when I finally bought my friend's gibson, it means alot to me because he was always a goal for me, he knew musical theory, played classical (google suadade no. 3, he played this all the time) and was the only other guy in my highschool who had seen the original crossroads movie (the one with steve vai) and had won several state competitions. and so it was a big deal for me, he was going off to Juilliard,

I used precisely all of it to buy a new guitar amp and used epiphone les paul.

epiphones aren't all that great in my experience, they use wood that's way heavier than it needs to be, plus they use a lot of smaller pieces glued together. Gibsons use lighter mahogany. you can find a good one on craigslist every now and then at a steal price, not to mention if you haggle. just don't get a newer gibson, about 3-4 years ago they switched to integrated circuits for the controls, so it's a bitch to replace parts in the guitar. but I have to say, I had an epiphone SG, sold it, and used the cash towards buying my friend's early studio Gibson SG (one of the first ones with good pickups and an ebony fretboard, and 4 piece body, like the standards) and it's total night and day, no comparison. I'd definitely go for a gibson if I were you, just so long as it's not a newer one, they're great, and hold their value better than epiphones too.

maybe in a few years once I get decent enough to feel I deserve one. Ive only been playing for about 9 months (got my first guitar for my birthday in December). For now, this Epiphone is a huge step up from my previous guitar (Fender Squier Strat)
