...why are you proud of her? She's watching a cartoon, it's not like we don't have access to that cartoon anymore. My 6 year old cousin and his 8 year old sister watch that show and they live in Serbia. It's not uncommon to see kids watching that show. I watch it a lot still, you guys are acting like no child watched that show anymore. Something to actually be proud about is watching Steamboat Willie and the other really old Mickey Mouse films. Dragon Ball Z isn't at all old. It's like saying South Park is old and that you would be proud of your niece watching South Park. It's not really something to be proud of considering that a fuck-ton of kids watch that show still. I love that show, it's just not that special when I find out that a kid watches it.

In his defense, in this day and age, most kids are expected to respond with "LOL FUQQ DIS gay SHXT #9YEAROLDYOLOSWAG"
The fact that a four year old could relate to something that, I imagine, is so near and dear to our childhoods made him proud of her for not joining the cancer.
I could be wrong, of course.

Thank you for your words, I'm pretty sure it's because most FJers didn't take the time to read it fully and thought that I was hating on DBZ when they didn't see the point I was trying to make. It's late, I understand why most FJers wouldn't want to read it, and I understand how they would think that I was hating on DBZ when they skim through it or just read the first 3 sentences. It's understandable. I'll just take my red thumbs and go to sleep.

actually, if you consider the comic that the cartoon is an adaptation of, it's a pretty old series, I think around 30 years old, it's got a lot of history, plus it's one of the last remnants of america's cartoon age of "anime=kids show" among series like tenchi muyo, the big o, yu yu hakusho, etc. it's also incredibly charged with sexual innuendos and violence, the amount of alcohol drinking (dubbed over as other drinks) and master roshi's love of dirty magazines make this something that really shouldn't have been shown to kids, yet at the same time, kids being innocent can't understand the dirty stuff anyways, it's a bygone style of entertainment, and it's just really cool that even one of the series has managed to be redubbed to the point that the generation above me, myself, and the new generation can all have one piece of somewhat unchanged modern media in common, it's kind of our juxtaposition to a written classic, like west side story, so while it is just a cartoon, the fact that it's something the two can watch together and both love/bond over is really cool, a bit of his childhood being passed on to the new generation. and the fact that this was a big contributor to the whole "kids watch too much violence" thing makes it that much cooler that it managed to have another incarnation.
