I thought it was the first game in chronological terms. I could have sworn it was either OoT or Link To The Past. Are one of the newer games all of a sudden even further back in the story now?

Zelda isn't my favorite Nintendo series anyway (I'm more of a Metroid/Mario man myself), so I'm probably not well-educated on it.

Nintendo released an official timeline.
Skyward sword is supposed to be the first, and there is supposed to be 2 Links not 1, but even the fans argue that this "Official" timeline is wrong.
