maybe i got it wrong, but autotune is when you sing like **** so they pitch up the voice and it sounds more...robotlike and then it is an instant hit, yes?

thundagawd (09/09/2012) [-] More or less, autotune is when the singer can't sing in the proper key, so they edit the track electronically to readjust the pitch of the voice so it comes out sounding the way it should, it essentially passes the voice through the autotune program, which realigns the voice to the nearest similar pitch before sending it back out through the speakers, so the result is every song being perfectly on-key, but most people can tell when autotune is being used because the transition between the different vocal notes throughout the song is instantaneous, so it comes out sounding a bit artificial (kind of like a synthesizer).
