Theres a common mistake people make between "I can't get a job" and "I can't get a job that i want". One of my friends keeps complaining about how he applies everywhere and never gets a job despite another one of my friends saying that the mcdonalds that he works at is always looking to hire people. And then you also have odd jobs in the paper that people want doing and im sure if you looked hard enough on craigslist then there would be people around your area that want to fuck want work done.
TL;DR there is always work somewhere, it just depends on how much you want it.

That's what work experience and volunteering is for, retards.

My first job was working illegally when I was 13 at a golf course as a cart boy.
Next job was a waiter at a diner (For this one I had been told by the owner that they don't generally hire males, as they tend to have difficulty with the multitasking and stress (it's been 7 years since I had that job, the waitresses and cook that work there to this day were all trained by me.))
Next job was washing dishes at a restaurant.
Next was stocking items and customer service at Spencer's Gifts (Loved that job. I was allowed to shout "Dildo" across the store and no one would give it a second thought. We had lots of fun).
Next was Walmart. Then The Source by Circuit City where I was a manager, Then I quit and took a job as a labourer in a steel shop (The ONLY labourer, I might add) which I did for about a year of working 6 days a week. Then I left that job and now work in the oilfield getting more per day than most people get in a week.
Shut up, quit whining, do a shitty job. Prove you deserve a decent job.

Apply for a union apprenticeship program. I've been in an electrical apprenticeship for 4.5 years, almost finished!, and they actually preferred that I was inexperienced. They want young people, who got decent grades in school, and don't have a criminal record. The philosophy is that it's easier to shape a young mind, than re-shape a hardened mind set in it's ways.
Started at $14.11/hr + full health benefits + full retirement package, now a fifth period apprentice pulling $28.45/hr with a raise to $33.85 in June. I'm not wealthy, but it's more than enough to be sole provider for my growing family.

In my country we do this thing called work experience. You do a week or two free labour in return for a reference. Get off yo ass.
My first job was being a volunteer, it looks great to other employers
Get off your asses and do something

it's not hard to get a job right now so much as it's hard to get a GOOD job right now. the kind of job where you could live in a house instead of an apartment and have benefits and insurance. everyone's being really choosy about jobs like that because no one is working right now and they can afford to be. it sucks working slave jobs when you're trying to get married and have a life.
