I'm pretty sure there's just some materials on which portals cannot be created (like the black one, glass, metal, I think). Anyway you couldn't place portals on glass doors so that pretty much aplies for prisms too, I guess.

It was compressed to a single point, the big bang. The argument that the big bang cannot be the 'first cause' because something must've been before it is awfully flawed, because it's completely circular. What about before that? And then before that? It's just a dull argument created by a moronic priest called St. Thomas Aquinas who didn't much know what he was talking about. I'm not saying the big bang is the first cause necessarily, just that it is a simple fact that matter cannot be destroyed or created. Chemistry is the study off matter and change for that reason.

An interesting point, it really depends on how the portals operate. If an entity enters the portal and is transported to the secondary portal without the presence of a third party dimension, what would probably happen was the first theory, where the entity would split equally, a bit like current in a series circuit with identical components in each series. Although this doesn't really make sense because there isn't really an explanation for how the transportation itself occurs at all. If portals were real, what would probably happen is the net energy of the area replaced by the portal would be converted into a tiny unknown dimension, through actual distance would be covered. In this more plausible instance, the entity would exit from the closest portal. If all three were entirely equidistant, which is even more hypothetical, as that is more or less an impossibility, fuck knows what would happen. The latter theory makes more sense, too, because when the portal vanish you can sort of see the prior material re-materializing.
