The "rules" are mostly basic human morals that even atheists should have (i.e. do not kill, steal, don't lie, commit adultery). And if you follow these basic human morals that anyone should have you get eternal joy.

Being gay is not against human morals.
Wearing clothes made from two kinds of cloth is not against human morals.
Having a round haircut is not against human morals.
Legally having to marry a person that raped you is against human morals.
Slaves are against human morals....
