Christians have a little more ignorant people than atheists but atheists have much more assholes. The guy simply could've not commented on the chicks status. Also the chick could be better educated. Nobody wins.

I think he was free to comment the status, as he did it very politely. Indeed, he said it was just a personal opinion, then you're saying we can't give our own opinion and have to shut up?

if that's your idea of polite then I'm worried about you. The status obviously showed her religious beliefs and he commented rudely to try and produce that sort of reaction. trying to say otherwise is just giving him some crazy benefit of the doubt. and it's not like he's not allowed to comment on the status, but he knew exactly what he was doing and it would've been easier for him not to do so. we all have freedom of speech but that doesn't make it okay to be an ass.

He made clear it was a personal opinion, he didn't try to impose his beliefs. So for example, if I'm with a friend and she/he died his hair blue, I can't say: ''I don't like the colour for you, just my point of view''. Would you find that rude?

Somebody could also say to somebody, "You're a complete fucking idiot, but that's just my opinion. You don't have to think it." and that of course would be rude. Yes I know it's not the same as what's going on here but just because you say "It's just my opinion" doesn't make it okay. The hair thing wouldn't exactly be rude, but it would also be better for you not to say that so they can enjoy their own decision and be confident about it. Hair color also is nowhere near as serious as religion.

I agree, he didn't insult her beliefs, but going back to my first response to you, you can tell that he commented maliciously. Passive aggressively, at the least.

The point is she is exceptionally ignorant. I doubt I could write a single (even slightly) atheistic status without a shitstorm from all of my religious friends. Why the double standard?

really she didn't say anything that ignorant, just her incredibly unintelligent way of saying EVERYTHING makes it come off that way. and I agree, it is a double standard. it's simply because there are faaaaaaarrr more religious people in the world than there are atheists. more than 4/5 of the world is associated with some kind of faith. if it were the other way around, then religious statuses would probably get hated on.

I wouldn't worry about it though, a person stupid enough to generalize an entire religion, country, skin color or gender is a person that is so short-minded he will live a life I'm proud to say mine differs from

You too! I also wish people would stop posting these religious or political posts, but especially the religious ones. People are free to believe in what they want, as long as it doesn't harm others. Nuff' said.

Actually, being Catholic, I personally believe that under certain circumstances, if a person commits suicide, they don't necessarily go to hell. Also, Catholics aren't supposed to believe in reincarnation, but i believe think its a possibility.

i like how my scripture teacher put it, if you catholic you can believe in whatever you want (like karma and reincarnation) but as long as you believe God is above all, its ok. Not exactly what he said but im sure you get the point
