It depends. Some people do-though a Brazilian minister got sacked recently for suggesting fixing the country's two big problems-pidgens and hungry poor people-by feeding the pigeons to the poor people. Pity really since that's actually kind of clever. The only possible probelm is that bird meat tends to carry a lot more harmful microorganisms than say... bacon, so there's a reason for the objection. Personally, i don't think they'd taste very good, but it;d beat starving to death in a Favela.

Potentially. But so are pigs/cows/sheep/goats/horses and virtually every other animal we eat. By cooking meat, you can erradicate virtually every neasty in it-and some of said nasties are actually good for you anyway. Rabies I'm not so sure about-I must admit I'm a little ignorant of the details but rabies tends to do a lot of biological harm to the carrier-you'd probably recognise a rabid pigeon before you ate it. Rememr, germs are as vulnerable as any other organism; they can be poisoned(disinfectant), they can be burned to death(cooking) and our bodies have a very effective immune system to protect us from what we do pick up. We evolved eating raw meat; cooked won't give us much to worry about.

Depends on the pigeon. I can asure you that the pigeon I ate wasn't just a random one from the street, and it was safe to eat.

Dunno. They're a very muscular bird, musclular creatures are usually stringy and tough. I've shot/eaten waterfoul and an owl during my survival training and they're really not that nice. Half of that's probably down to the cooking method, but birds in my experience aren't that nice, unless you reallyput some effort into seasoning. More something you'd eat so as not to die, and even then there's tastier stuff on the menu. Try a small ungulate like a deer or goat. Goat brain sounds disgusting but it's actually delicious-very tender, and not uncommon in some cultures.

It tasted gamey. I prefer chicken.

What I hate about small birds is, no matter how good your killshot, there's not much meat left. Even if you blow it's head off(no small feat) you're not exactly facing a feast, wheras even a small deer will last you a day or two, since there's a lot more meat on them. Birds are, anatomically the minimum animal possible, they apparently didn't evolve with omnoming in mind.
