I come from a family with not a lot of money, but my mom ended up re-marrying into a family that's very wealthy (her husband's parents were a pathologist and a nurse).
My step dad's parents paid for my first year here at ISU completely, because they know I'm 150% serious about college, and they want to see me succeed and follow my dreams.
Especially after their oldest grandchild dropped out of college from drug and alcohol abuse, and their second oldest grandchild dropped out from high school for pretty much the same reasons, and their granddaughter is dumb as a doorknob. They have college funds saved up for those three kids their whole lives and they're all going to waste.

But they're not just paying my tuition for the year without anything in return--we need to pay them back once my mom and her husband get their franchise started up.

But the fact that my grandparents on the side of the family I wasn't even born into are doing this for me, I could never express my gratitude and I could never repay them enough for doing this.

Do not read unless you're in the mood to here a really scary story.

Ho ho, it's funny because as long as the federal government continues to provide student loans no questions asked, colleges have no incentive to keep prices low as the feds will cover the cost no matter what, ho ho
